Thailand outline
Karaoke venues in Thailand
Karaoke is a hotspot for multi-CMO claims in Thailand (works + recordings + sometimes per-monitor tariffs from individual societies). Do not import Indonesia’s Rp/room/day table or Malaysia’s MACP persons band as ‘Thai karaoke law’.
Three things to remember
- Number / status: Individual Thai CMOs (e.g. MPC/PNR published rows) use monitors, repertoire %, or room classes — not a national karaoke decree. Verify each claim against DIP/CMO filings before paying.
- Who to pay: MCT and/or other works CMOs · Phonorights / MPC / other recording licensors. Keep the invoice / licence in the premises’ name and address.
- Not this: A final invoice from Thon · legal advice · collecting for CMOs. Verify before you wire.

No public tariff yet — Individual Thai CMOs (e.g. MPC/PNR published rows) use monitors, repertoire %, or room classes — not a national karaoke decree. Verify each claim against DIP/CMO filings before paying.
Who to pay
- MCT and/or other works CMOs — Musical works in karaoke catalogues
- Phonorights / MPC / other recording licensors — Masters and karaoke video layers — often separate invoices
Proof — what to keep
- Every CMO certificate covering the karaoke repertoire
- Monitor / room count used on each invoice
- Written scope — avoid paying unknown collectors twice
Legal basis
- Copyright Act B.E. 2537
- CMO-specific karaoke / MV tariffs
- DIP guidance on authorised collectors
Overlap risk is the product
Thailand’s karaoke pain is duplicate collection more than missing a single calculator. Thon’s job: doors + proof trail + Desk — not a fake unified THB number.
